Jaw Reduction with Botox and/or Dysport
An angular jaw can give the appearance that the face is square. A square appearing jaw is often a result of the overdevelopment of the masseter muscle along the jaw line. Treatment of a portion of this muscle with a neuromudulator such as Botox or Dysport is used to give the face a slimmer appearance. Many patients choose to have this performed as it is a non-invasive method to improve their appearance.

The masster muscle is a large muscle that runs along the jaw and inserts onto the lower jaw line. This muscle is very thick and can result in the appearance of a square face and square jaw line. Botox and Dysport are injectable neuro-modulators that weaken the muscle at the points of injection. This effectively reduces the thickness of the muslce in those locations. By reducing the size of the muscle along the jaw line, the jaw and face will appear less square and more angular in appearance.
Most people are good candidates for this procedure, however Dr. Steiger will first examine you to determine if you are an eligible candidate for jaw reduction.
Dr. Steiger will first map out the masseter muscle and determine where to place the injections in order to achieve the best possible result. The injections are then placed with a small needle.
