In your otoplasty recovery phase you will have a light compression ear bandage wrapped around your head in order to protect your newly shaped ears. This bandage is removed one day after your ear surgery in order for Dr. Steiger to examine all of the incisions and ensure that the healing process is going well. The bandage will then be reapplied for another 2 days, at which point it will be removed.
In order to have the best and most succesful outcomes, Dr. Steiger will have you wearing a head band over the middle and upper portions of your ears for two weeks after surgery. After that point, we ask you to the head band over your ears every night while sleeping in order to protect your ears. This will protect the shape of the ears and allow them to healin the most desireable manner. Once your otoplasty recovery is complete, you can enjoy the rewarding and long-lasting results that this procedure provides.
